Let me introduce you to one of the UK's best kept musical secrets....

... Eddie Juke

Eddie Juke was born into a musical family and both his wife and family will give testimony that the man was probably born in the wrong time, in the wrong place and maybe even in the wrong colour. Listening to Eddies voice and the content of his songs it's hard to believe that a man with this much soul was born and bred in the UK.

His introduction to the Blues came at an early age and he reckons that the first record he bought was by Sony Boy Williamson. Very soon after this purchase came many others, this time by soul legend Otis Reading and many of the other artists who were recording on the Stax label at that time,  he has combined the Memphis groove of the Stax sound and the simplicity of the Blues ever since.

Throughout the eighties and early nineties Eddie was a lead singer and a key member of the highly successful "Accelerators". The band toured the UK extensively and the highlight of the bands career was supporting the Blues Brothers tour of the Middle East in 1994.

In 1995 Eddie set off for the States and by chance met Brad Webb and Blind Mississippi Morris, a cousin of Willie Dixon. Eddie was adopted by the Memphis duo and has regularly opened on Beale Street for Blind Mississippi Morris and Brad, finding that in Brad he had found a musical soul-mate.

"Eddie has great stage presence, engaging personality, and a voice as black as asphalt".

Such a combination of talents, custom made for singing the Blues, is rare in the UK and very often people at his gigs at times find it hard to believe he is not an American on tour in the UK., Eddie's powerful lyrics and soulful voice just add to the occasion.

In 1999 Eddie Juke did two short promotional tours of the UK. One with Blind Mississippi Morris and Brad Web and one with Nashville based swing band "Jim Diamond and the Groove Syndicate".

Both tours were highly successful and led to some prestigious festival engagements, the International Stage at Colne Blues Festival and a headline at the Pajot Blues festival in Belgium (1999) and also the headline place at the 2000 Rochdale Jazz and Blues Festival in March.

Although little known around the bulk of the UK,
Eddie is well known in the Midlands. Successful
tours with Blind Mississippi Morris & Brad Webb in
October 1998, August/September 1999,
September / October 2000, October 2001, August
2002, March / October 2003, March 2004 will herald the
entrance of Eddie Juke to the many blues venues
up and down the UK and Europe. Check out the Gig Guide
to see him touring in your area. Whilst he and his bass player & drummer, Al
Brett & Paul Thompson enjoy the prestige of being the UK touring band now is the
time for them to break out on their own.
